Lindner Center of Hope Breaks Ground on Largest Expansion Since Opening
June 17, 2025, Mason, OH — Lindner Center of Hope marked a historic milestone today, hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for the most significant expansion of its campus since the Center opened in 2008. Held on the Center’s Mason campus, the ceremony gathered board members, donors, civic leaders, contractors, staff, and community supporters to celebrate the next chapter in mental health care innovation and access.
The event opened with remarks from Michael Groat, PhD, President and CEO, followed by an invocation from Chaplain Valerie Martin, and inspiring comments from Center Co-Founders Frances and S. Craig Lindner. The program highlighted the Center’s transformational goals, philanthropic leadership, and the power of compassionate care, featuring remarks from William P. Butler, Bill Artzt, and leaders from Paul Hemmer Company and Cintech Construction. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Mason Mayor Diana K. Nelson also addressed attendees, underscoring the importance of expanding mental health services across the state and region.
“This project is significant as Lindner Center of Hope grows to meet the mental health needs of our community and the national demand for sophisticated mental health diagnostic assessment,” said Dr. Groat. “This expansion reflects a simple truth: that mental health care is not a luxury – it is a necessity. And together, we are declaring that this community, here in Mason, and here in Ohio, will lead the way in providing it.”
“We break ground not just on a building, but on a promise. A promise to the next person, next family, and the next neighbor who walks through our doors looking for help, hope, and healing that we are there for them”
As part of her remarks, Frances Lindner shared, “Together we can break down barriers, reduce stigma and create a brighter future for everyone. We will transform mental illness into mental wellness.“
S. Craig Lindner added, “Today marks more than a groundbreaking—it marks a recommitment to a cause that affects every community, every family, every one of us.”
The expansion project includes:
· A new four-story, 75,000-square-foot medical office building, which will feature:
o A dedicated intake area and ambulance access (sallyport)
o A 300-person conference center
o Expanded outpatient and partial hospitalization spaces for adults and adolescents
o Centralized administrative offices
o Additional parking accommodations
· A 10,800-square-foot addition to the Sibcy House, the Center’s nationally renowned residential diagnostic unit, including:
o Eight private suites with ensuite bathrooms
o A demonstration kitchen and exclusive dining areas
o Enhanced therapy, art, fitness, and wellness spaces
Construction will be led by Paul Hemmer Company (medical office building) and Cintech Construction (Sibcy House addition and parking).
Following the formal program, attendees enjoyed refreshments and participated in ceremonial shovel photos, marking the official launch of construction to “Transform Hope.”
