MADE Chamber + CDC is a 501c6 organization that unites the combined strengths of the MADE Chamber and MADE CDC for the benefit of the MADE region by creating a unified implementation team on behalf of both organizations. We are building a team of tenacious problem solvers who will work to ensure that the ambitious goals of the two organizations are achieved and scaled. The Director of Sales & Marketing is a high-impact leader responsible for driving revenue, expanding membership, and elevating brand visibility across a unified Chamber of Commerce and Community Development Corporation. This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position. This role blends strategic sales execution with mission-driven marketing to advance the MADE region’s reputation as a thriving hub for business, investment, and community innovation. The Director will lead efforts to grow earned income, deepen stakeholder engagement, and position the organization as a regional and national model of place-based community development. This role reports directly to the President/CEO.
 


Core Responsibilities: Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to grow Chamber + CDC membership, secure sponsorships, and generate earned revenue across programs, events, and initiatives
  • Design compelling sales packages that align with member value, community impact, and strategic priorities - including legacy sponsorships, naming rights, and multi-year investments
  • Lead prospecting and outreach efforts to engage business leaders, developers, anchor institutions, and philanthropic partners
  • Negotiate and close high-value partnerships, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and long-term sustainability
  • Manage CRM systems and sales pipelines, tracking performance metrics, retention rates, and ROI
  • Collaborate with finance and leadership teams to forecast revenue and align sales goals with budget targets

Marketing & Brand Stewardship
  • Craft and execute integrated marketing campaigns that support sales goals and elevate the organization’s dual mission
  • Develop messaging frameworks that resonate with diverse audiences - business owners, residents, investors, and civic leaders
  • Oversee digital platforms, print collateral, media relations, and event promotion to ensure consistent brand visibility
  • Maintain brand integrity across Chamber, CDC, and MADE Team initiatives, reinforcing the region’s identity as a place of belonging and opportunity

Stakeholder Engagement & Storytelling
  • Spotlight member success stories, community milestones, and civic wins through targeted campaigns and recognition rituals
  • Lead onboarding and engagement strategies that reinforce shared values and deepen member loyalty
  • Support public messaging for signature initiatives like the Mason Mile and collaborative governance efforts

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with program, events, and operations teams to align sales and marketing with organizational priorities
  • Contribute to grant proposals, dashboards, and strategic planning efforts
  • Represent the organization at public forums, business roundtables, and regional coalitions

Qualifications
  • Proven experience in sales, business development, and marketing - preferably in civic, nonprofit, or economic/community development sectors
  • Strong understanding of membership models, sponsorship structures, and investor relations
  • Exceptional relationship-building, negotiation, and storytelling skills
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, digital marketing tools, and performance analytics
  • Ability to balance entrepreneurial drive with mission alignment and community sensitivity
  • The MADE team is dynamic and committed to the success of our organization and community. While team members are given flexibility – they are held accountable for performance measurements to ensure objectives are achieved. We run on EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System), and candidates should consider reading the book “Traction” to get a basic understanding of how the organization operates. Early mornings and occasional evening meetings are a part of our work, and all team members are asked to attend as appropriate. Applicants must be able to travel efficiently to off-site meeting locations throughout the region.
