The Mason Deerfield Chamber and its affiliate organization, MADE CDC, are building a team of tenacious problem solvers who will work to ensure that the ambitious goals of the two organizations are achieved and scaled. The Director of Strategic Operations is a new position developed with the organization’s future growth and strength in mind. The person selected for this position will have the unique opportunity to assist in building the vision, leaders, and strategies to propel our efforts forward. The Director of Strategic Operations plays a critical role in securing the resources necessary for fulfilling the MADE Chamber and MADE CDC missions (MADE). This position will oversee the planning, implementation, and execution of MADE’s programs and operations.  This position ensures MADE has the financial support and resources needed to continue its work. This position’s efforts directly impact the organization’s ability to serve its community, making their role essential in the sustainability and growth of MADE.
Key roles include:

  • Leadership, management, and accountability for all program areas
  • Funding strategies and plans for all program areas
  • Partnership identification and cultivation including stewardship programs
  • Volunteer systems management and coordination
  • Operational compliance and accountability
  • Overall program satisfaction and retention
  • Program plans and management
  • Budget management
  • Initiative progress reporting
  • Initiative evaluation
Must-Have Skills
  • Planning: Responsible for long-term planning, setting goals, and developing milestones and timelines.
  • Funding strategy and execution: Synthesizing complex information into clear narratives that align with the strategic goals of both the organization and prospective funders. Securing significant financial contributions.
  • Budgeting: Monitoring, developing, and implementing budgets based on strategic goals.  
  • Team management: Lead, supervise, and provide staff feedback. Ability to hire, train, and mentor staff.
  • Problem solving: Analyze issues, develop solutions, foresee risks and implement contingency plans.
  • Reporting: Develop and analyze reports for top management, and keep top management informed.
  • Compliance: Ensure that operations comply with legal guidelines and internal policies.
  • Data collection and interpretation: Understanding of economic, workforce, and demographic data collection; and a strong ability to collect, interpret and tell a meaningful story using the data.
  • Technological proficiency: Comfort with technology including Office 365, basic social media, contact management, and database management.
  • Decision Making: Ability to assess all the facts, understand the current state and goal state, and choose the best course of action.
  • Strategic Forecasting: The use of benchmarks, historical data, and other information and factors to make predictions about future demand and growth.
  • Flexibility: Adjust to short-term change quickly and calmly, so that you can deal with unexpected problems or tasks effectively.
  • Project/process management: Manage priorities, processes, contracts, timelines, and task deliverables across a variety of overlapping projects.
  • Customer service: Maintain a high level of engagement, empathy, problem-solving, and communication with internal and external partners.
  • Interact well with others from a diverse set of backgrounds.
  • Public speaking and presentation: Excellent written, phone, and verbal communication abilities that command audience respect.
The MADE team is dynamic and committed to the success of our organization and community. While team members are given flexibility – they are held accountable for performance measurements to ensure objectives are achieved. We run on EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System), and candidates should consider reading the book “Traction” to get a basic understanding of how the organization operates. Early mornings and occasional evening meetings are a part of our work, and all team members are asked to attend as appropriate. Applicants must be able to travel efficiently to off-site meeting locations throughout the region.
