Massage Therapist (Independent Contractor)

Position Summary

The Massage Therapist at Countryside YMCA provides therapeutic massage services to support our members' health and wellness journeys. Working within our welcoming, family-oriented environment, this role combines clinical expertise with relationship-building to deliver personalized massage treatments that address individual needs. The position includes educating members about the benefits of massage therapy, maintaining accurate client records, and collaborating with our wellness team to create integrated health solutions. Our massage therapists contribute to the Y's mission of strengthening community through programs that support spirit, mind, and body.

Required Qualifications

  • Current state massage therapy license
  • Minimum of one year professional massage therapy experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Professional liability insurance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain detailed client records
  • Proficiency with Google Calendar and basic computer skills

Essential Equipment Requirements

  • Provide and maintain own massage table
  • Supply all necessary massage materials and supplies
  • Provide appropriate music/sound equipment
  • Maintain all equipment to professional standards

Core Responsibilities

Client Care and Service Delivery

  • Deliver professional massage therapy services tailored to client needs
  • Conduct thorough client consultations and maintain accurate records
  • Educate clients about massage benefits and home care
  • Maintain strict client confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Contact clients within 4 hours of appointment notification

Professional Standards

  • Arrive 10 minutes before appointments to prepare room and materials
  • Follow all YMCA safety and risk management procedures
  • Report any safety concerns to the Landen Director
  • Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming treatment space
  • Keep all personal contact information current with YMCA

Business Operations

  • Schedule appointments through designated YMCA system
  • Maintain consistent availability as communicated to YMCA
  • Provide 30-day notice before terminating services
  • Accept responsibility for client refunds in case of no-show/no-call situations

Community Engagement

  • Volunteer minimum of two hours monthly to promote services
  • Participate in YMCA promotional events throughout the year
  • Contribute to the positive, welcoming atmosphere of the YMCA
  • Support YMCA's mission and values through service delivery

Professional Conduct Policies

  • Failure to arrive on time may result in 10% pay reduction
  • No-show/no-call incidents will result in refund deduction from next payment
  • Must maintain professional appearance and YMCA dress code
  • Required to follow all YMCA policies and procedures

  • Independent contractor status

Candidates will be required to provide a copy of current massage license, and proof of liability insurance.
