Description
Kris is a multi-media artist. Her interests include drawing, painting, and her most recent and most exciting venture - collage. In her collage she uses paper and other organic and synthetic materials to create both realistic and abstract art. Working in this method of collage is very similar to painting. Your palette consists of opaque and transparent papers so you can layer creating new colors and textures and also cover areas. Once the paper is wet it can be manipulated like paint. A story can be told and a mood set in the way the material is applied. Combining her love of music and art; Kris has also started painting guitars. She calls them ’Pop Art Guitars’. They are painted with vibrant enamel colors in a pop art style. They can be played or just displayed.
While Dave’s vocation is Chemistry, Photography has always been a passion. His interest in Photography began in high school, spending weekends taking pictures of the Connecticut countryside and then spending any available free time during the following weeks in the dark room. Landscape photography has always been his primary interest. Recently, Dave switched from using 35mm film to medium-format (6cm X 4.5cm) film to achieve greater clarity in large images. The goal is to capture the emotion of a scene which can best be expressed through larger images. A favorite subject is the interface of the land and water. ‘A photograph captures more than just a single moment’ says Dave. The photographer can communicate motion and the passing of time. In this sense, a photograph expresses more than what one sees by eye because both movement and stillness are compressed into a single image, providing the viewer a unique perspective on how the elements of the scene interacted over time.
