Description
It's the New Year of the Trees, Tu BiShevat, often referred to as "Jewish Earth Day." One way to celebrate is by helping to take care of the place trees live -- our earth!
In conjunction with the celebration of Tu B'Shevat, NHS is partnering with Shomrei Olam - Jewish Environmental Advocates of Cincinnati, to collect spent household batteries and burnt-out light bulbs. Both batteries and light bulbs contain toxic chemicals that can leach into local groundwater during the decomposition process. These items cannot be placed in any curbside recycling program and should not be placed directly in the trash.
Drop by Northern Hills on Sunday, February 5, 9am - 12:30pm and drop off any household batteries, as small as hearing aid batteries and up to power tool batteries, as well as burnt-out light bulbs. Your participation will ensure that these items don't end up in our local landfill. Everyone is welcome to come drop off these items. Questions?
