Description
Friday, September 11, 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11 – an event that forever changed our nation. This solemn day serves as a reminder to never forget this tragic attack on our nation, the lives that were lost as a result, and to honor the courage and sacrifice of first responders who answered the call on that fateful day. It also serves as a powerful reminder that amidst tragedy, Americans came together and set their differences aside to support one another with a renewed sense of patriotism.
On the morning of Friday, September 11, 2026, in observance of the 25th anniversary, the City of Mason Police and Fire Department will have a presence at the City of Mason 9/11 Memorial inside the Mason Municipal Center to lead a community-wide moment of silence corresponding with the times that each plane struck as part of the attacks – 8:46 a.m., 9:03 a.m., 9:37 a.m. and 10:03 a.m. Police and Fire will sound their sirens and local religious establishments are encouraged to ring their bells in remembrance of these tragic moments 25 years ago.
The public is welcome to gather at the Municipal Center to participate in this community-wide moment of silence.
In addition, the City of Mason will have white roses available for community members to lay near the 9/11 Memorial to reflect on this tragic day 25 years ago and its impact throughout the nation still to this day.
The 9/11 Memorial is located inside the Mason Municipal Center at 6000 Mason Montgomery Road and will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 11.
