BWC’s virtual Medical & Health Symposium this week

Event offers local and national experts, education tracks and credits

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) will kick off its annual Medical & Health Symposium Thursday for three days of dynamic speakers and educational sessions on the most pressing health and medical issues of our time.
Themed “Comprehensive Care for an Injured Worker,” the free symposium features education tracks and credits for health care practitioners, their staff, and legal professionals.
“This is about delivering the best care we can to injured workers,” said John Logue, BWC’s Interim Administrator and CEO. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for people in the health care and workers’ compensation industries to broaden their knowledge and approach to treating injured workers. Plus, they can attend from the comfort of their home or office.”
Topics covered Friday and Saturday under the health care provider clinical education track include opioid addiction, clinical insights to COVID-19, violence in the workplace, multidisciplinary treatment programs, stories of triumph and recovery, and more. Speakers include a bestselling author, motivational speakers, medical experts and others.
Topics covered Thursday for health care provider staff and administrators include key workers' comp policies and procedures and the day-to-day operations of workers' comp processes and workflows within a provider's office or health care system.
The symposium also features a vocational rehabilitation workshop from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. The workshop will focus on ethical decision making and how to foster resilience in the face of adversity.
Visit the symposium’s webpage for more details. Registration is free. Click here to register. For questions, call BWC’s provider contact center at 1-800-644-6292, option 0-3-0, or email medsymposium@bwc.state.oh.us.
