The Mason Deerfield Chamber invites local elected officials and business leaders together quarterly to discuss issues impacting the MADE region and other topics of interest. September's event will focus on election integrity with Brian Sleeth\, Director of the Warren County Board of Elections\, and Jeff Monroe\, Chairman of the Warren County Board of Elections. The event will be moderated by David Charpentier from Conscious Dynamics and a member of the Chamber's Government Affairs Executive Committee.\n\n \n\nLearn more about September's guests:\n\n \n\nBrian Sleeth\n\nDirector\, Warren County Board of Elections\n\nBrian Sleeth has been the Director of the Warren County Board of Elections since 2008. He is currently the President of the Ohio Association of Election Officials and Co-Chair of the Education Committee working in partnership with The Ohio State University. He has also serves as a Trustee and past member of the Legislative Committee.\n\n\n\nSleeth is a 2016 graduate of the Election Center and 2011 graduate of the Ohio Registered Election Official program. He is a member of the Warren County Democratic Party and Executive Committees and currently serving as the secretary. Prior to working in Elections\, Brian worked for General Motors for 12 years until their closure. Brian has been married to his wife Jenny for 27 years\, they have two children and one grandson.\n\n \n\nJeff Monroe\n\nChairman\, Warren County Board of Elections\n\nIn addition to being Chairman of the Warren County Board of Elections since 2013\, Jeff has a history of doing pretty cool stuff. He has run police academies in two separate states\, worked as a researcher for a crime policy think tank\, he's an author and has consulted governments in multiple states and countries. Jeff is a former college professor and was the Director of the Criminal Justice Graduate Program at Xavier University. Jeff has also served on Lebanon City Council and as Chairman of the Warren County Republican Party. \n\n\n\nCurrently he serves as President of 22three\, a small business that includes an indoor shooting facility\, a firearms retail store\, an e-commerce business and a training group. He also leads Think22three\, a research organization that focuses on firearms violence and public policy. As a seasoned researcher in the social sciences\, Jeff is a staunch advocate of firearms policy that makes sense and respects individual rights. \n\n\n\n22three has its origin in a simple piece of advice Jeff got from his grandfather. "Don't get too smart." There's a lot of wisdom in that statement. So\, after earning his Ph.D.\, becoming a professor and expert in gun control policy and homicide\, Jeff launched a new venture. 22three\, Inc. In the years since\, Jeff has grown the company to be worth more than 40 times his original investment. Jeff continues to look for ways to take his academic background and apply it to help understand complex issues related to gun violence. For Jeff\, research without practical application is irrelevant and best left to those in ivory towers. For Jeff\, research becomes valuable when it can be used to get something done. With a keen understanding of academic research into firearms violence\, an in-depth knowledge of the gun industry and the know-how of working with policy-makers\, Jeff is acutely focused on solving the gun violence problem we have in America. \n\n\n\nJeff's diverse background make him a bit of renaissance man who is just as comfortable working an algorithm\, sitting in a board room\, or shooting at the range. \n\n\n\nIn his spare time\, Jeff is pretty involved in the community\, his church and loves hanging out with his family.
