The Mason Deerfield Chamber regularly invites local elected officials and business leaders together to discuss issues impacting the Mason and Deerfield region and other topics of interest. \n\n\n\nFebruary's Honored Guests:\n\n\n\n\n\nMore about Dan Corey:\nDan Corey grew up in Terre Haute\, Indiana\, and attended Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology\, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering. After graduating in 1993\, Mr. Corey moved to the Deerfield area and met his wife\, Lisa\, while attending Faith Bible Church\, where he currently serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees. He has two sons\, Ryan who is a graduate of Kings Local High School and Jake\, who attends Mason High School. The Corey family enjoys traveling together\, particularly family trips on motorcycles.\n\n \n\nAs a registered professional engineer\, Mr. Corey has balanced his career\, working in both the public and private sectors\, where he specialized in the development of public and private infrastructure plans. Within civil engineering\, his areas of emphasis include roadway and drainage. He has used these skills working directly for public entities including Warren County\; the cities of Fairfield\, Springdale\, Sharonville\, and Forest Park\; and the villages of Maineville and South Lebanon.\n\n \n\nOver the last several years\, Mr. Corey has held various roles at the Warren County Engineer's Office\, including serving as the project coordinator for the interchange improvements at I-71& Fields Ertel/Mason-Montgomery Road and I-71& Western Row Road. He also managed multiple local network improvements\, including coordinating projects along the corridors of Wilkens Boulevard\, Socialville-Fosters Road\, Mason-Montgomery Road and Innovation Way. He currently manages projects in the cities of Mason and Springboro\, as well as the Village of South Lebanon.\n\n \n\nIn 2011\, Warren County created the Warren County Transportation Improvement District (TID)\, a multi-jurisdictional organization that supports economic development and job creation through coordinated regional infrastructure improvements. The TID's budget has since grown from $1 million to $30 million\, which required the County to send Mr. Corey\, who handles multiple finance and budgeting functions within the TID\, to be trained in public accounting principles and software by the Ohio State Auditor. This commitment to financial accountability and transparency has been an integral part of his roles with Deerfield Township.\n\n \n\nMr. Corey served on the Deerfield Township Board of Trustees from 2006-2016 before being elected as the township's Fiscal Officer in November 2016. He has seen great success in his brief time as the Fiscal Officer receiving the 2018 Auditor of the State Award. This award is presented to local governments and school districts upon the completion of a financial audit. Entities that receive the award meet the following criteria of a "clean" audit report.\n\n \n\n"I am very proud to have received this recognition from my peers because it shows that they recognize Deerfield Township is doing business at the highest level\," said Mr. Corey.
