Housing Opportunities Made Equal (HOME) is pleased to offer the Fair Housing Disability Rights Summit on Thursday, November 1, 2018 and Friday, November 2, 2018 (1/2 day) at the Cintas Center at Xavier University.
Since 2010, housing discrimination against people with disabilities has been the #1 fair housing complaint locally and nationally, with more than half of all fair housing complaints involving this protected class.
The Summit is open to providers, advocates, case managers, developers as well as housing consumers (for example, family members of people with disabilities, people with disabilities, service providers). Local Elected and Government Officials have been invited to participate.
The draft of the agenda is included below. The Community Building Institute (CBI) at Xavier University will be hosting Local Accessibility Focus Groups on both days at the conclusion of the Summit Sessions. More information to follow.
The Summit is free to attend however, we ask that no more than 5 people from the same Organization/Company register so we may share this information with as many people as possible.
Registration will be capped at 150 people. You may register for one day or both.
There is no penalty for cancellation before the cancellation deadline, which is Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 11pm. Email HOMESummit2018@gmail.com to cancel your registration.
Because HOME’s programs are offered free or at a heavily subsidized rate, a valuable community resource is lost if participants register but do not attend. If a participant from an Organization/Company has registered for an event, fails to cancel by the deadline and does not attend or provide a substitute attendee, the participant's Organization/Company may be charged a cancellation fee of $25.00.
Continuing Education Credit will be offered for Social Workers who request them in advance on their registration form. The total credit amount is pending.
HOME will make arrangements to accommodate all special need requests. If you would like to discuss something in greater detail than what the registration form allows please email HOMESummit2018@gmail.com.
